Composite boat builders looking for lighter weights are often also looking for lower costs in materials, labor, and propulsion, too, while some builders have found they must actually pay more for materials and labor. At IBEX 2012, Scott Lewit (Structural Composites Inc.) took part in a panel discussing the spectrum of lightweight boatbuilding and reported on his companys on lightweight composites in military applications. Lewit joins us now with the final results of research that SCI has completed for the Navy on this topic.
